Personal Service Workers Elect Members to Bargaining Team
SEIU Local 503’s newest members have entered bargaining with the state for an inaugural contract covering about 7,500 support service providers for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illness, joining representatives of more than 11,000 home care workers for seniors and people with physical disabilities.
The personal support workers, who voted to join the union in a statewide election, joined forces with SEIU 503 homecare workers June 26 for an inaugural Bringing Dignity Home conference to plan how to build membership, strengthen our contract campaign, and celebrate their decision to unionize.
These providers for clients with developmental disabilities and mental illness were elected to join our homecare bargaining team.
